HOW TO PLAY SWAT 4 ONLINE WITH GAME RANGER MOD
I believe the engine is pretty mod friendly, so as long as the player base doesn’t slough away, we should see something eventually. Having said that, I can’t imagine it would be too hard to whip up some way to jigger around the parameters for co-op games in SWAT 4. Whether it’s because that’s not what developers have made or because it’s not what gamers want is sorta beside the point. And for a first person shooter, that’s simply not how most people play. But it requires additional time/work/money that might be better spent on other elements of the game. FWIW, I agree with them and I like to play that way also. I know some people (I won’t mention any names like Brett Todd and Loyd Case) think co-op should be supported in all games because, by golly, that’s what they like to play. I can completely understand why it is the way it is in SWAT 4. To be fair to Irrataional, I don’t think there’s necessarily evidence that co-op play deserves much by way of resources during the development phase. I do tend on the current missions to kit out lethal weapons across the whole team and it is rare that we incur Unauthorised use penalties, I just have to accept that I’m not going to get 100% once I start dropping bad guys. On Normal difficulty it isn’t too bad, and perhaps this should be considered “realistic” by any other game’s measure with the harder difficulty levels being reserved for the masochists who like getting shot at :D At least on Normal you do have a fair degree of liberty to open fire on people who insist on taking potshots at you while still being able to progress. The only real criticism that I have about the way that it plays out is that it effectively forces you to put your team at risk securing a live arrest when you are clearly in a situation where using deadly force is a much more prudent option. I can’t help but feel that this would, however, put you just a gunshot away from playing a minor re-hash of Rainbow Six where you are at liberty to execute restrained suspects with impunity if you so wish. I understand where you are coming from with it and at times (normally just after I’ve been shot in the face for the umpteenth time) tend to agree with you.
