Revit is becoming famous worldwide cause its more marketed, having Autodesk in background, the same doesn't happen with Archicad from GRaphisoft. Nowadays I am testing Vectorworks. It mixes it all!! Archicad+Autocad+Rhino+3dstudio in one.you have only one program, simple, and very powerful. May 30, 2019 Vectorworks vs Revit: CAD Software Compared. May 30, 2019 in CAD 0. In recent history, there were a couple of CAD software juggernauts who would dominate the market leaving little choice for the solution you would opt for.
Hi guys, I am a recruiter/headhunter (boo, hiss), I specialize in Architecture. I am very interested in architecture and am really excited about being able to speak to architects all day every day for a living but am in no way an expert, more of an interested onlooker, (In the same way I suppose a real estate agent would be interested in houses but may not actually know how to build them!). I have landed a new client who are a top 100 practice here in the UK and are looking to hire a team of Technologists, but I have been told in no uncertain terms that there are ZERO plans to use revit or entertain revit in the near future, the issue I am having is that most if not all the technologists I am speaking to are turned off by this as they see revit as 'the future' and many have said that they dislike working of ArchiCAD as it is 'clunky' and 'dated', the question I have is , what could the possible reasoning be behind not adopting what a lot of other firms seem to think is the future?
Apologies if I have posted this in the wrong sub, any comments would be welcome (just trying to get better at my job).
Edit: Guys, I must say that I am overwhelmed with the effort and detail you guys have gone to in order to help me out. Looks like I have sparked a decent debate off too, which is always good. Thanks again for your contributions and hopefully I have contributed to this sub too!

Which do you use? Why? Which one is more widely used? Is one better for scenic design? Lighting design? I need to learn one specifically for scenic design, but I want to know the benefits of each. I like the 3D capabilities of Vectorworks, but if I'm more likely to be employed using AutoCAD, well, then... fuck Vectorworks.
Secondary: Do you recommend a place online to learn these programs? Free is preferred of course, but I'll hear all options!
Did you take a class? Have any homework assignments that you found really useful to do? Or a book that really helped?
Price doesn't need to be factored in here. I'm not sure which one is more expensive, but I have both (free student versions! TAKE THAT WORLD).
Edit: Thanks for all the feedback everyone! Sounds like there's a split on what's best. A few people are saying AutoCAD for scenic and VW for lighting. But apparently the mac version of AutoCAD leaves something to be desired, and I use mac. So it seems I'll try my hand at VW first. But I do like the idea of knowing both!
